Who We AreSunnyview’s Speech and Hearing Center provides a comprehensive approach to both the diagnosis and the treatment of hearing disorders for people of all ages. Our goal is to help you identify and understand your hearing impairment and find the correct solution for you. Our audiologists and staff are dedicated to answering you and your family’s emotional, physical and psychological questions. Our patients and their families are the focus of our professional services as we strive to improve the quality of life for people with hearing impairment. Our audiologists are certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), or the American Board of Audiology and licensed by New York State as audiologists and hearing aid dispensers. How We Can Help YouSunnyview works with all age groups to provide hearing and hearing aid evaluations.
Our staff has access to many state-of-the-art technologies that can help you in a variety of real-life situations. If it is determined that a hearing device may benefit you, medical clearance from a physician is required under New York State law. A physician can determine if a hearing condition can be improved by medical or surgical intervention. Assistive devices for the phone or home can also be discussed. What to ExpectOrdering Your Hearing AidIf a hearing aid is needed and purchased through Sunnyview, we will make an earmold impression and order your hearing aid(s) through a company that both you and your audiologist agree upon. A hearing aid fitting is then scheduled to take place in two to three weeks. A down payment is necessary and final payment is taken at the end of a 45 day trial period. Fitting and AdjustmentsAt the initial fitting, we will discuss the care and use of your new hearing aid(s). You will be shown how to insert each hearing aid and how to adjust the controls. We will also provide written instructions to refer to later. Batteries usually last from 5 to 14 days and instructions on battery replacement will be provided as well. We encourage family or a trusted friend to participate and help with adjustments and support. After the initial fitting, we will make any adjustments at no cost to you for one full year. Remember, we are counting on the your input for optimal satisfaction.
