Integrative Therapies at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital

Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital has been inspiring independence in outpatients and inpatients alike since 1928. Medicine has evolved through new technologies and techniques during that 75-year time. At Sunnyview, we have enhanced those new technologies and techniques by integrating non-traditional approaches, such as exercise and fitness, massage therapy, yoga, T’ai Chi and more traditional medical treatments.

Lifestyle Wellness Center

Sunnyview’s Lifestyle Wellness Center is a non-intimidating fitness center for people of all ages. Certified personal trainers assess clients for their fitness levels and design an individualized program to help improve physical strength, endurance and energy.

Available to members of the community on a subscription basis, the Lifestyle Wellness Center has state-of-the-art cardiovascular equipment, including stationary bicycles, treadmills, Stairmasters, and elliptical trainers, as well as Cybex resistance training equipment, free weights and a cable cross.

Options include one-on-one personal training, group exercise classes, pulmonary group and geriatric fitness class.

Sunnyview’s therapy pool, designed to offer the many advantages of aquatic therapy, gives clients the unique opportunity of attending daily exercise classes in the pool. What makes this particular pool special is that clients need not worry about how they will enter and exit the pool; rather, the entire floor of the pool raises and lowers, thereby enabling clients to participate in pool therapy or exercise classes without being concerned that their physical limitations will interfere. The water temperature of the pool is kept between 92 and 94 degrees, which is soothing to the muscles and joints of those who use it. This is especially beneficial to people with arthritis and other bone-related ailments and disabilities.

Hours for the Lifestyle Wellness Center are Monday through Friday, 5:30 am-8 pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 7 am-3 pm; pool hours vary. Please call 518-386-3656 for an appointment to meet with a personal trainer.

Massage and Acupuncture
Sunnyview offers massage therapy to inpatients and outpatients as well as to the community at large. Sunnyview massage therapy is a professional service with training New York State-licensed massage therapists.

Each client receives an individualized wellness plan, integrating massage therapy into the process. Research has shown that massage can aid the body by facilitating its natural healing process, providing relaxation and assisting recovery from athletic or other vigorous physical activity.

Sunnyview’s massage therapists offer Swedish, therapeutic, deep tissue, sports, Reiki and craniosacral sessions. Aromatherapy oils, hot stone massage, a table warmer and pregnancy pillow are also available. Additionally, chair massage is another option.

Sunnyview massage is available six days per week, and evening hours are available. Call 518-386-3535 to schedule an appointment.
